As an owner of a wedding venue in Southwest Colorado near Grand Junction, for the past 8 years, we have seen many trends come and go. We were curious about what the top wedding cake trends of 2025 were going to be, so we have researched the topic and have picked the top wedding cake trends we feel would accent the natural beauty of wedding venues in our area. In 2025, wedding cakes promise to be more innovative and creative than ever! This year we will see lots of creativity, sustainability, and unique flavors that will reflect each couple's personality. Here are some top wedding cake trends we are sure will dominate in the coming year.

Don't Forget to Order Your Wedding Cake?
If you are a 2025 engaged couple and are starting the wedding planning process, don't forget to order your wedding cake. Research says engaged couples should order their wedding cake 4-6 months in advance. And, of course, you will want to schedule a cake tasting. Why not make it a date day? If you're booking your wedding venue at Antler Ridge, after your cake tasting, make it a day and plan a hike at the Black Canyon or go to Ouray to the Hot Springs. Enjoy visiting some of our local breweries in Montrose or do the river walk and stop by one of our local florists to build your own floral bouquet at Hosanna Florals or Alpine Floral!

2025 wedding cake trends we are sure to see at the wedding venues in Grand Junction
Bold Colors
Say goodbye to the traditional white wedding cakes. In 2025, couples are embracing bold colors that express their personalities and wedding themes. Deep jewel tones and vibrant pastels are making their way into the cake world and will be perfect for a vineyard wedding or a rustic, chic wedding barn.
This trend allows for easy customization, enabling couples to create cakes that match their wedding's color scheme. Additionally, the use of color can develop moods from romantic to whimsical, allowing you to pick your perfect style.

Floral Wedding Cakes
Floral decorations have always been a staple for wedding cakes, but in 2025, the trend is all about going big or going home! Large, statement flowers are becoming increasingly popular. Think oversized peonies, lush dahlias, and extravagant roses cascading down the tiers of the cake. This trend can bring out your creativity, and we at Antler Ridge can't wait to see what you will do.
Couples are also opting for edible flowers that not only add beauty but also flavor. Seasonal flowers are going to be popular, reflecting the growing trend for sustainability and natural beauty, which blends in perfectly with wedding venues in Grand Junction.

We love Jacques' Sweet Treats, a local Montrose bakery! "The ultimate goal is to help make the bride and groom's wedding day extra special by adding a unique touch to their celebration."
New Exciting Wedding Cake Flavors
In 2025, the wedding cake trend is going to be about providing personalized experiences both for you and your partner, but also for your wedding guests. In 2025, flavor combinations will be popular, with couples experimenting beyond the traditional vanilla and chocolate. We will be experiencing flavors such as lavender lemon, chai spice, or even unusual pairings like basil and raspberry. At Antler Ridge, we think you should enjoy your cake tasting adventure as a couple. We will also be seeing gluten-free or vegan cakes to ensure that all guests can indulge.
Providing Your Wedding Guest with a Local Experience
At Antler Ridge Weddings, we have seen interactive dessert bars, so consider having a build-your-own cupcake bar or mini cakes. Your guests will enjoy a fun and memorable dessert experience.

Sustainable and Local Ingredients
The 2025 wedding trend of sustainability has many couples choosing to support local businesses and use organic ingredients in their wedding cakes. In 2025, this trend of "farm-to-table" will expand into the wedding cake realm.
We were able to experience this firsthand last year! We had a bride make her own cake.
It was a tiered cake with four different flavors. She also used all the locally grown fruits available on the western slope.
Bottom layer - Peaches and Cream
The wedding cake was a vanilla bean cake using local Palisade peaches and cream cheese.
Second layer - Caramel Apple Spice Cake
A spiced wedding cake with caramel and local Cedar Ridge apples.
Third layer - Cherry Almond Cake
The wedding cake was an almond cake, and the bride used her bridesmaid's homemade cherry jam. The cherries were purchased from a local cherry orchard in the valley near Delta.
Fourth layer - Peach Cake! The bride's favorite. And of course, made with local Palisade peaches.

Bakers who prioritize using seasonal, local produce not only create cakes that are fresher but also resonate deeply with the couple's values of supporting locally grown. And that is what the Western Slope is noted for. So if you love supporting locally grown, locally owned like we do, the Western Slope has a lot to offer who have that vision.
